The Rotary Club of Port Perry is celebrating the tremendous generosity of our community following a successful Thanksgiving Food Drive that collected $1,600 in monetary donations and eight truckloads of food for Operation Scugog Food Bank.
Held over Thanksgiving weekend, the food drive brought together Rotarians, volunteers, local businesses and community members, all working toward a shared goal of supporting individuals and families who rely on the local food bank.
The response from the community was overwhelming. Food donations filled eight truckloads, with additional volunteers needed at Operation Scugog Food Bank to help receive the large volume of contributions.
The Rotary Club of Port Perry extends a sincere thank you to VOS, Walmart, Foodland and Food Basics for generously hosting the Thanksgiving Food Drive at their locations. Their support provided convenient opportunities for community members to contribute throughout the weekend.
Special appreciation also goes to the Rotarians and volunteers who dedicated their time to collecting donations, transporting food and assisting with deliveries. Their commitment, combined with the generosity of local residents, made this year's drive a remarkable success.
Every food item and dollar donated will help Operation Scugog Food Bank continue its important work supporting those experiencing food insecurity in our community.
To everyone who donated, volunteered or helped spread the word, thank you. Your generosity is a wonderful reminder of what our community can accomplish when we come together to support our neighbours.
