In November, the Rotary Club of Port Perry organized a community food drive with the help of four local grocery stores to support the local food bank. Rotary members set up at Food Basics, Foodland, Vos' Your Independent Grocer, and Walmart, collecting generous donations of food and money from community members over the course of a few hours.

The event was a huge success, with two full half-ton trucks of food and $588 in cash donations delivered directly to the food bank. These contributions come at a crucial time, helping to meet the growing demand for food assistance in the community.

The Rotary Club would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the management and staff at Food Basics, Foodland, Vos' Your Independent Grocer, and Walmart for their support and for allowing Rotary volunteers to set up at store entrances. Their partnership played a vital role in the success of the food drive.

Looking ahead, the Rotary Club is considering another food drive in the February-March timeframe. With increasing demand at the food bank, community support will be more important than ever to help families in need.

Stay tuned for updates on how you can get involved in future Rotary initiatives to support the community. Together, we can make a difference!
