September is Youth services Month and with the arrival of our Rotary Exchange Student, Lara Cadosch we are beginning a new year with a terrific young lady. Lara comes to us from Switzerland and until October 1st she is 15 years of age.

While Lara’s first language is German she has good English skills so, I would like to encourage every member to invite Lara to join your family for an evening or a trip or to join you at an interesting event. Our obligation to her is to see that her experience here in Canada is educational and culturally enriching.

On Tuesday the 16th we will have our Rotary Fall Classic Golf Tournament at Royal Ashburn where we are expecting up to 144 golfers in one of our major fund raising events. Moving the event to Royal Ashburn allows us to hold the after golf banquet in a beautiful indoor facility where enjoyment will be the theme. If you wish to golf, the cost per golfer is $160.00 but hurry, time is running out to register. Contact Arch Evans at 905-982-1082 and he can take care of you.

On September 9th we are presenting The Kent Farndale Bursary for the Arts to local resident, Peter Lauricella whose specialty is wood turning.

We were honoured in August to present a cheque for $1,000.00 to the Scugog Lake Stewards in support of their Weevils To Combat Milfoil weeds that plague our lake.

Finally, September 21st is The Rotary Foundation Walk to be held in downtown Toronto starting and ending at the George Brown Lakeside Campus. At last count 5 of our members will be participating in this excellent “walk”. Be sure to support the walkers by pledging any amount for the 5 Km “Old Toronto” route.
