As we enter the fifth Rotary month we are looking forward to a busy and rewarding time for all Port Perry Rotarians.

October was highlighted by the 7070 Rotary District Conference where over 300 Rotarians from 52 clubs gathered to share experiences and ideas aimed at making this Rotary year better for each of their clubs.  To say a great time was had by all would be an understatement.  Personally, I had the opportunity to interface with many Rotarians from our district and share valuable time with them on our lives in Rotary.

November begins with The Past Presidents’ Dinner to be held on the 7th at Royal Ashburn Golf Club and we are expecting over 50 Rotarians, spouses and partners for this most enjoyable evening.  It will be our pleasure to welcome Assistant Governor Wayne Routly and his wife as we honour all the past Presidents.  Immediate Past President Bob Strickert will be the main speaker, highlighting his year at the helm of our very active club.

Three Paul Harris Fellowships will be given to past and present Rotarians recognizing their contributions to The Rotary Club of Port Perry.  Next month’s message will identify these terrific individuals.  If that is not enough, Past President Bob will be naming the ‘Rotarian of the Year’ who contributed significantly to his year as President.

On November 19th we will be welcoming over 200 seniors and challenged persons for our annual Christmas Dinner.  This is the 33rd consecutive year Port Perry Rotarians have had the pleasure of providing some joy, great music and a fine turkey dinner for wonderful members of our community.  The music this year will be provided by a group of Rotarians from the Markham-Unionville Rotary Club and I understand they put on an excellent show.

As you can see we will be very active again this month so I expect that time will “fly” as we serve the community of Port Perry and the surrounding area.
